The Reality of God

God is as close to you as you can believe! And there in lies our problem. Belief. We are caught up in our daily struggles, sorrows, problems, activities, and we forget who we belong to. "But if I belong to God, why don't I feel it and know it?" you might ask.

Because there are always two voices. One is a voice of loud, tempting distraction. It is the voice and the noise of the world. The other, a soft, soothing voice of peace. Even in the midst of a loud crowd, you can, if you choose, focus in on one person and communicate with them. It isn't always easy because of all the back ground noise.  But, if you concentrate and focus, you can choose to hear a person even in a very noisy and distracting environment.

He's there. He is always there. Learn to focus on His voice and watch how the distractions and the noise of your life begin to fade.

This coming Sunday is going to be spectacular!  I promise!

See you soon. Love, pastor kent

This Sunday

What If? ……Come be renewed as we open all the possibilities that God has for you.

One of the most intriquing two word question in the world can be "What If?"

I wonder if God ever asked that of himself before He called the universe into existence?  "What If?"

This Sunday we will explore that question with the added ingredient of the Holy Spirit. A combination of unlimited potential.
What happens when you realize the Holy Spirit lives inside of you?
What are the possibilities?
What will you dream?
How will your life journey and experience change?

It's going to be an awesome Sunday!  Come join us at 9:00AM 800 North Main Street Edwardsville, Il.
Come open a brand new chapter in your spiritual journey.

See you Sunday. Love, pastor kent

Be Transformational!

As a Christian I have the opportunity to be transformational. Not because I have any special talents or abilities, but because of the Holy Spirit. One of my daily prayers is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us the spiritual power to be life changing advocates for Jesus if we choose to be. It's that choice thing again.

We have been given the spiritual power and the choice to put life changing, uplifting, loving, caring words into peoples lives. I'm talking about words that are empowered by the Holy Spirit. Which means the words are living seeds of hope and transformation, especially if we will back up our words with action.

The church, meaning you and I and all Christians, need to start using the Holy Spirits power so that we can have more and more Transformational conversations with the people around us. I think these powerful conversations should start at home and ripple out from there.

Empowered words followed by empowered action = Life Changing Miracles

PCF and Immanuel Methodist…Let's become Transformational! Let the miracles of Love begin!
Huge Good News is Coming!  Stay Tuned.

One of the Greatest Things!

One of the greatest things about the way God made us is our freedom to choose. God gave us freedom  to choose our own path. This is also one of the downfalls of all of us, our ability to choose.

One of the greatest things that has ever happened to me is when Bonni and I chose one another. When it comes to relationships, healthy, loving, rewarding relationships, it takes two people to commit to one another for the relationship to work. If Bonni loved me and wanted to be in a relationship with me but I was not committed to her and did my own thing with no regard to her wishes and desires, it would make for a bad relationship. It would not bring happiness or blessings to either of us. But since we both choose to be dedicated and devoted to one another, we are both rewarded and blessed.

The good news!  God has already chosen you. He already loves you! He will be there for you!  The blessings come when you are willing to do the same for Him! And there is another great secret about your commitment to God. It is how we receive power from the Holy Spirit.  He says, "love me and do what I say and I will send you super natural power into your life!  Look at the scripture from John.

John 14:15-17

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
Make the commitment today to the one who already loves you!

No Tomatoes!

I planted 11 tomato plants this year. I have picked only a handful of small grape tomatoes off two of the plants. I still have three plants with several small, green undeveloped tomatoes. Maybe they will produce at least one ripe tomato for me this year? I will be pulling the rest of the plants because they did not produce fruit. I planted tomato plants because I want tomatoes.

Matthew 7:19
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
John 15:2
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

Matthew 12:33-35

33 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.

I and The Father are One!

Do I want what God wants, or am I expecting God to want what I want?

John 5:19  "Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."

John 5:30 "By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me."

John 10:30   "I and the Father are one."
Pray to have God become first place in your life! Make Him first in all things.
ANNOUNCEMENT:  This Sunday!  We will meet at Glik park at 8:30AM. Please get the word out! Bring a lawn chair.

Some Things

This Sunday will be communion Sunday. The service will be at 9:00 AM us usual.

Next Sunday, September the 13th we are planning a service at Glik Park at 8:30 AM! Please make note of this service location and time. Weather permitting!

Bonni and I went and saw the movie "The War Room" last night. We both highly recommend this movie. It is is very uplifting and has a powerful message on the power of prayer.

What does God want you to do today?  He wants you to acknowledge Him and think about Him and have an open loving heart so He can communicate with you. He wants to "fill" your life with His love and wisdom and direction. He can only do that with your permission and cooperation.

Everyday you choose what you are going to eat.
What you are going to read.
What you are going to think about.
What you are going to look at.
What kind of language you are going to use.
Who you are going to listen to.
What you are going to do with your spare time and who has final authority in your life decisions.
When you look at the above list, "Where does God fit in?"

We, as PCF, have so much to do for God's Kingdom that we cannot become complacent. There are so many things we can do to change peoples lives. More on this to come in the next couple of weeks!
